It is a joy to be able to do what I do. I love caring for children and the families that support and love them. Building long-term relationships with patients intrigues me just as much as solving the medical mysteries of the child and adolescent years. I enjoy the balance of taking care of the health and emotional needs of kids and families as they grow together. Unfortunately, our kids do not come with instruction manuals. However, I hope to alleviate some of the uncertainty that comes with being a parent by listening to concerns, having open conversations, and providing education about healthy choices.

The first baby provides so much joy, but also so many sleepless nights and questions. I enjoy walking along that path with parents. The first years are particularly formative, and teaching ways to keep kids healthy from day one is both necessary and rewarding.

The toddler and early school years provide more unique challenges. From illness to injuries, and from picky eating to constipation, I strive to follow evidence-based guidelines in creating diagnostic and treatment plans. I work hard to involve patients and parents with every decision along the way.

I also love talking with adolescent patients. Their drive and curiosity make it the perfect time to encourage healthy lifestyle choices. Struggles with a changing body, depression, or even ADHD are very real. I welcome the opportunity to guide teens through this complicated time.

I truly enjoy listening to, laughing with, and educating children of all ages. Growing up in Overland Park, I did this as a little league umpire for Blue Valley Recreation, as Junior Camp staff at Camp Center Stage (now StageworX), and even as a youth handchimes director at church. Now I get to do it as a pediatrician.

In my free time, I love doing anything outdoors with my wife and two kids. We love walks, exploring new playgrounds, and bike rides. I also love spending time with extended family and friends, playing ultimate frisbee, and anything baseball related. Keep an eye out and you might find my family at a Royals’ game or at any of our favorite BBQ joints in town!

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your family.
